At Distar School, we believe every learner deserves a safe, caring and stimulating environment where talents are discovered, confidence is nurtured and a lifelong love for learning is developed. Our commitment has always been to provide quality education while nurturing character, creativity, leadership and compassion. My name is Md. Mary, Founder and Head of Distar School. The story of Distar School began in 2015 with a simple dream shared by many parents—to provide children in Utange with an excellent education close to home. While living in Utange, I hoped that my own child would eventually join one of the well-established schools in Nyali. Before taking him there, I wanted him to have a strong academic foundation, so I invited a qualified teacher to homeschool them from our home.As the child continued learning, neighbours and friends noticed the remarkable progress they were making. One by one, parents began approaching me with a simple request:
“Can our children also learn together with yours?”That unexpected interest made me pause and reflect. I realised many families in Utange faced the same challenge I had experienced—finding quality education close to home.
I remember asking myself one life-changing question:”Why should parents travel all the way to Nyali for quality education when we can bring that same standard of learning to Utange?”
That question became the vision behind Distar School. What began as a small homeschooling programme has today grown into a respected learning institution where children are encouraged to excel academically while developing confidence, discipline, creativity, leadership and practical life skills through swimming, roller skating, chess, ICT, music, sports and creative arts. Our greatest joy is seeing children become confident, responsible and compassionate young people who are prepared for the future and inspired to make a positive difference in the world.
